JLA Family Stories

Meksin-Gerrard Family

"The J has been a beautiful community for our family and a transformative experience for our son Neri. Everyone at the J saw what was special and amazing about our child and helped him grow through his challenges, rather than stigmatizing him for his differences, as had happened at our previous school. We have felt so deeply supported through every experience by the J--whether it was the death of a family member or the birth of our second child, the community of educators, staff, and other parents at the J showed up every time to make us feel loved and welcomed. We wish we could keep our kids here forever. Thank you for bringing so much joy and positivity into our lives."

Stigers Family

"When we first began searching for preschools, it was incredibly hard to find one that felt right. None of the places we toured gave us the confidence or peace of mind we were looking for—until we discovered the J. From the moment we walked through the doors, we just knew. There was an immediate sense of comfort, care, and community that stood out from all the rest. Since that very first tour, the J has continued to exceed our expectations in every way. The teachers, the leadership team, and the assistants are all exceptional—thoughtful, nurturing, and genuinely invested in every child’s growth and happiness. Even during the most uncertain times, like during COVID, the J created an environment that felt safe, fair, and even joyful. We’ve now been part of the J community for five years. Both of our boys have grown up here, and with our youngest graduating this year, it’s an emotional and bittersweet farewell. The J has played such a meaningful role in our family’s journey, and I proudly recommend it to every friend and client looking for a preschool. Though we’re saying goodbye for now, we truly hope to stay connected for many years to come. Thank you, J, for everything you’ve done—and everything you are. You’ve given our family a priceless foundation, and for that, we’re forever grateful."

Blum Family

"We’ve only been at the J for 6 months, but it feels like years! We were immediately embraced by the community and have participated in so many fun family events. Our son, Oliver, is in the Foxes and continues to surprise us with what he learns at school. At one point, we started counting in Spanish and he spoke right up and continued counting in Spanish for us! I was amazed that he’s already learning new language skills in both English and Spanish. It’s a testament to the teachers and leadership staff that the kids are truly happy and learning is fun for them. He looks forward to school and that is the best gift for his education."

Braker Family

“When we first came to the J Preschool, our son had a number of developmental delays. Within the first month we saw a huge leap in his development, and within 6 months he had caught up on nearly all his milestones. I accredit this to the incredibly warm, supportive, and knowledgeable staff here and how accommodating they have been to our child with special educational needs. For us as first time parents we also craved community, which we found here among the incredible parents and families we’ve met. And as a progressive Jewish, multi-racial family, we’ve appreciated the openness of everyone here and their commitment to a diversity of families. We can’t imagine being anywhere else and truly love being here."
